Raqqa
Once upon a time, Raqqa was founded by Seleucos II and later served as a summer residence to the legendary Abbasid caliph Haroun ar Rashiq, of The Thousand and One Nights fame. The mongol invasion in the 13th century somehow put an end to its romantic glory. Nontheless, the vestiges of the good all times are still an attraction.
